Maya Lach-Aidelbaum is an MA student in Media Studies at Concordia University. She holds a BA in Journalism with a minor in Women’s Studies, also from Concordia.
During her undergraduate studies, produced and hosted Femme AM, a feminist radio show on CJLO 1690AM, created a poetry podcast, wrote for Verge Travel Magazine, and reported in German for Munich’s M94.5 radio station. After graduating, Maya worked as a journalist with CBC News for three years in Montreal, Toronto, and Whitehorse, covering critical topics such as climate change, housing affordability, and social inequality.
In 2022, she returned to Concordia as a Writer and Coordinator for Research and Graduate Communications, crafting stories to showcase the university’s research. Now pursuing her master’s degree, Maya explores our relationship to urban spaces and the environment, with a focus on liberatory, decolonial practices.
Her research examines how human and non-human beings co-create, fostering environmental consciousness, and how media portrayals and grassroots initiatives shape public perception and mobilization efforts. Through creative writing and audiovisual work, she aims to promote inclusive environmental narratives and transformative social change.
