Nelly Y. Pinkrah is a Ph.D. student at the DFG funded research training group »Cultures of Critique« and research assistant at Leuphana University in Lueneburg, Germany. Her research is interested in following Édouard Glissants oeuvre comprised of his poetics and poetic knowledge, his understanding of and play with language, and of revolutionary concepts such as Creolization, Relation and opacity to link it to a cybernetic epistemology, to computational knowledge and realities, and to contemporary politics. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Ethnology, African Studies and Sociology and a Master’s Degree (with distinction) in »Culture, Arts, and Media – Kulturwissenschaften«. From November 2012 until October 2013 she co-organized the annual conference of the German Society for Media Studies and since November 2013 she has been working at the Centre for Digital Cultures in Lueneburg. She is actively engaged in different political projects and is a Humanity in Action senior fellow. Her areas of interest are: (digital) media and technology, political thought and practices, black feminist and postcolonial theory, decoloniality, and cultural history.
She worked at the GEM Lab in the Media and Paranoia project.
