The 2022-23 GEM Seminar is organized around the problem of Video/Art/TV.
Our year-long Seminar in Media and Political Theory for 2022-2023 will focus on digital aesthetics and politics in the age of internet television. The series features lectures and artist talks, screenings, and a periodic reading group. Key themes will include platform histories, feminist video interventions, internet pornography, archives, new network genres, and emergent video forms/practices. Speakers include Erika Balsom, Elisa Giardina Papa, James J. Hodge, siren eun young jung, Jeff Scheible, Jakob Steensen, as well as readings by Legacy Russell, among other events.
